Counting Maggots on and off is an Urban Myth

Monarch Labs supplies maggot-impregnated gauze, which allows you to transfer the gauze directly into the wound without counting or touching individual maggots. The maggots come off the gauze when they are placed on the wound bed, allowing them direct contact with the wound bed and all of the nooks and crannies thereof. When it is time to remove the maggots, they will no longer be attached to the gauze pad . . . you will have to remove both the gauze and the maggots. But, you will NOT have to count the maggots, and you will not even have to search them out: medicinal maggots are self-extracting. Contact us if you have any questions.
